The aim of the novel is to portray history as it is and not conceal history for ulterior motives as several authors and historians have done. It reveals a whole journey of India under rule of outsides, their sufferings, changes to lifestyle, culture, administration of natives.

Also i bopk read great vedas to understand what is hinduism, i dont read novels or documentaries to know about any religion. It is entirely upto the reader’s mind to either accept it or reject it. The moment I got to know about Avarana being translated by Sandeep B, I went ahead and placed a preorder.
It touches upon many eras of Indian history, forcing you at times to do bookk own research before you proceed. Extensive research by the author, engaging narration and crisp translation are all positives. I read the English translation.
What does she do with the resources at her disposal? However, to further their agenda these historians have convoluted Indian history to portray a history of their choice than the truth. A Study in Correlations, Baroda: Bhyrappa has reiterated that something was written in his novel. And finally, I don’t know if any writer can escape this – but aavarana few characters and situations in AvaraNa seemed like callbacks to older works of Bhyrappa.
Thats a good review. It remains silent on the responsibility of the majority in a geography peopled by multiple religions and the implications of settling a medieval score in the 21st century. Must read for everybody. Primary objective of the novel is to get the history right. Much of the history of the Muslim conquest of India was already familiar to me, so initially I thought that this book was merely polemic. But is it a bkok read?

A certain ruler was NOT secular and we must accept that. Not Enabled Word Wise: It comes off very bookk, I should say. Bhyrappa is widely regarded as the greatest living novelist in Kannada.
This book is a must must read. Her quest leads her to the many parallels in the narratives between the past and the present and she gradually finds that though much has changed in Indian society over the centuries, much remains the same.

As the author states, “The reader too shares an equal responsibility with the author in his quest for truth” So much for the democracy of our country which stands by the motto: Bearing children from a different male – just to ensure they have a legal heir is probably justified during those times and circumstances – and may be termed wrong during our times.
The good news is this – this book has not been avaranq as yet, and reading it is enjoyable, if not fun.
