They were beautiful people and that is where the story really begins. If loved the pace and the hero and heroine inconvenlence much as I love rakes, sometimes is refreshing when the hero is not one. Frasre runs beside romance. I really like this author’s style, and I must read the sequel. A Duchess in Name. I w that Susanna Fraser first thought of her story by saying to herself, ” Mansfield Park is such an interesting but frustrating book!

She takes what she can get, without being a martyr. His sister, Anna, is a bright, independent-minded young lady who seems to be the polar opposite of shallow Portia Arrington.
Sebastian becomes obviously besotted over Anne, but since their engagement is a secret, Lucy says inconfenience. Well written and fairly evenly plotted. She became the perfect poor relation—meek, quiet, and self-effacing.

Fraser doesn’t do away with Mary’s friendliness in Anna; it’s easy to imagine that Anna really is Mary Crawford with a much nicer brother. Return to Book Page.
It started off well, and I was actually enjoying the very English aristocratic play-by-plays. As I got to know the characters, I came to appreciate their quirks and passions. The writing was not very subtle.
He’s very close to his sister, Anna, who quickly falls for the dashing Sebastian when the families are brought together at a wedding party.

I was born less than a year later, with another new baby almost every year after that. View all 3 comments. The numerous family issues that Lucy experienced, and the delicate balance of trust she built with James made this a delightful read.
Susanna Fraser’s story is a light one, filled with fluffy scenes and cute smut, but I found myself expected more. At that point and for the following 60 pages or so, the whole focus of the book turned to whether Lucy would have an orgasm or not.

Then my uncle came for us. It susabna be coincidence, but Mansfield Park is especially well suited to this kind of intertextuality: Just a moment while we sign you in to your Goodreads account. James is suspicious of Sebastian’s true character, but his sister proves to be too head-strong. Will James come to her rescue—or abandon her to poverty? The title isn’t an apt one, since no marriage takes place until two thirds into the story; by that point, James and Lucy are pretty into each other, so it isn’t even all that inconvenient.
Not only do we get to have Lucy and James’s story, but we also see more about the characters from Anna and Will’s story.
Other books in the series. I was a bit disappointed in the writing.

Sergeant Will Atkins ran away from home to join the frader in a fit of boyish enthusiasm. It was one of the best historical romances I’ve read in while. But I was pleased to find out we can read the rest of her story in her own book, The Sergeant’s Lady. I look forward to her third.
