I discovered that, while practicing all seven of the “Divine Hours of Prayer” greviary quite a jump, it was actually doable, if I put my mind and desire to it. There are no discussion topics on this book yet. It is both user-friendly and rich in resources. It’s small enough to fit in a briefcase for travel.

The revisions are significant so it is worth buying if you have the first edition.

Much easier to use with less turning of pages, a generous selection of psalmody, additional readings from patristic sources for all three years, arranged in two-week cycles-all these features make this a more accessible benedctine rich resource for a wide ecumenical company of prayer. Anyone who has endured the unedifying experience of not being able to determine what to pray much less of having to join a Facebook group to figure it out will bless good Prsyer. The Press has given us a truly liturgical treasure.

Alex Norton rated it it was ok Dec 23, The translations of the Breviary hymns are uneven in quality, and sometimes outright unmetrical, which would make common recitation more challenging. The offices are relatively short, and permission is granted for beneidctine shortening one nocturn at Vigils and abbreviation of the Laudate psalms at Lauds.
