I was especially interested in the typography of graphics, and the book doesn’t seem to give this topic much attention. Jacques Bertin was born in in Maisons-Laffitte semioloyg, Yvelines.

Some of the pictures are neat, and it does make you think about things like which dimension of graphical differentiation to use to display data, but I don’t think I’ll be using this book much for guidance.

Apparently this book is one of the classics of the subject, but I found it surprisingly confusing. Tufte and Semiollogy W.

But other than that, it’s a brilliant book that I recommend to everyone interested in graphics and visualization.
