It is set in England so most of the places they talk about mean nothing to me as I have no concept of where somewhere is in England.

thirtynothing — All About Romance

Ok I wasn’t thittynothing into reading this one at the start, it must have been been sitting in my cupboard for a few years when I found it – I vaguely remember buying it with one of those bulk buy book club deals a long time ago, and then promptly misplacing it.

In fact, I could have written this review with just one word — perfect — but you thitynothing have felt a bit shortchanged, so I’ll expand. And if you enjoy Bridget Jones, and aren’t bugged by characters who are stubbornly refusing to see what’s in front of them, I think this might be worth picking up and reading. Her mother was a secretary and her father was a textile agent and she was brought up in the northernmost reaches of London with her two younger sisters.

It went on to become the best-selling debut novel of that year. This book was even more stupid tihrtynothing predictible than I thought it would be.

I loved the fact that I could hear this author’s voice even in one of her earlier books, as this is one of my favourite authors, it was reassuring to see that her voice hasn’t changed much over the years, even if the kind of novels she writes are now worthy of being part of the Richard and Judy book club!

Thirtynothing by Lisa Jewell

Much like with Jewell’s other book that I read there were some great moments in the plot and didn’t want to stop reading, but there were also moments where I didn’t understand and it was hard to keep going at times. Perhaps just jwwell meant for the ‘older’ medicare ‘set’ This is one author where I haven’t managed to catch up with her back catalogue yet and so I find myself downloading the audio books of the older novels, or even the ones I have on my shelf waiting to be read, and I absolutely devour them!

Thirtynothing

Even though it felt a little predictable and I knew what the ending would be, I enjoyed it. Feb 21, Dora Okeyo rated it liked it.

Imagine bumping into your first love twelve years after you last saw her. The endless thoughts and having to get into their heads for over three pages, just to have them whine about how pathetic the other person’s partner is and all that. We all must start somewhere and keep taking tgirtynothing hard steps forward within out true selves. It’s a fun enough book – just not good.

Would I recommend it?
